This stripe may be yellow, red, orange or no stripe at all. The waters it inhabits in the wild run from southeastern Canada down through Georgia then west as far as Alabama. Eastern painted turtles are not shy turtles by any sense of the word, they have wonderful personalities and even as hatchlings they will come and feed out of your hand with little or no training. This is a very hardy and an easy turtle to keep, making it a perfect beginner turtle. These turtles are fantastic swimmers even when they first come out of the egg.. Preferred water temperatures are in the low to mid 70s Fahrenheit. Basking temperatures should be kept between the high-80s and mid-90s Fahrenheit. As with most all aquatic water turtles, eastern painted turtles are mostly omnivores their whole life. However they do have a strong erg to eat like carnivores. In the wild they have been known to eat a variety of vegetation, small fish, insects and insect larvae. In captivity eastern painted turtles do very well on turtle pellets along with small amounts of cut up fish and green leaf lettuce. However with that said you must remember to feed all your turtles a variety of different foods. Never feed just one type of food to your turtles on a regular basis.
Our B-Grade Eastern Painted are currently 1 to 1 1/2 inches in size.
