In their natural habitats, Russian Tortoises are most commonly found in sand and clay deserts where grasses and bushes are sparse. This is a nice species for keepers interested in a smaller tortoise. The adults will not grow to be much larger than 8 in. Russian Tortoises are very adaptable and quite hardy, too. Russian Tortoises are herbivores that love broad, leafy plants and a variety of weeds. Russian Tortoises also need water to thrive. Russian Tortoises required detailed care and an understanding of the environments they require.
