White-Lipped Mud Turtles are small to medium-sized freshwater turtles native to Central and South America, typically found in slow-moving rivers, swamps, and marshes. Recognized by the distinctive pale stripe along their upper lip, they are hardy, curious, and well-adapted to life in shallow waters. These turtles are bottom-walkers more than swimmers and enjoy burrowing in mud and hiding in aquatic plants.
